Pro Biker Tips to Plan Your Next Weekend Ride

Long distance motorcycle rides are a great way to tune out the day-to-day stress of work and find some ‘me-time’ to relax and connect with nature. Many two wheeler riders, especially those on motorcycles love to take long rides on the weekends, and if you are planning something similar in the days to come, here is a list of the most vital things that you need to plan for before hitting the road.

  1. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!

Never cut corners on your motorcycling accessories. Simple things make the difference between a comfortable ride and a ride full of hassles and troubles. The most important of all motorcycling accessories are helmets, riding gloves and motorcycle luggage bags. In addition to these, you will also need a helmet safety guard and riding gears such as jackets and boots. Also carry an emergency Power Bank to charge your mobile phone so that you can stay in contact in places where you can’t easily find a wall socket to plug your phone in. Before beginning your ride, make sure to get all your accessories in place and if you need to upgrade do not hesitate to do that because that can make a huge difference.

  1. Pack light, but pack smart

Keeping things minimal during a long ride reduces the overall weight on your motorcycle and improves mileage. While you must make sure to pack light, do not miss out on any important accessory or clothing or equipment that you are going to need during the trip. A key decision that you have to make at this point is to invest in a good motorcycle luggage bag with locks so that you can keep extra things locked up in your bike and carry only the essentials with you to your hotel room.

  1. Plan your routes

It is always a good idea to plan your routes in advance. If you have never been to the place that you are planning to go to, speak with someone who has already been there and knows the nitty-gritty of the roads and facilities along the way. Doing this can reduce a lot of headaches that can happen because of sudden and unexpected challenges that you are not prepared for. If your two wheeler is not equipped with a large fuel tank for long rides, make sure to plan your route that has a lot of petrol pumps on the way so that you never run out of fuel in the middle of nowhere.

  1. Always have an emergency exit plan

Planning for every aspect of your ride definitely reduces headaches, but  it is not humanly possible to anticipate every challenge that you might face on the road. For that, always make sure to have an emergency exit plan. Share the details of your plan with somebody you trust to  bail you out in case of an emergency.  Always keep a ready reckoner of the emergency phone numbers that you might need to repair your motorcycle or to get out of a sticky situation especially if you are riding alone.
