From all the gear that is necessary while riding a motorbike, the one which is most important and most often ignored is the helmet. Identifying people’s need for style, helmet manufacturers began manufacturing different types of helmets.
In a short period, different varieties of helmets were being made to suit different needs, styles and preferences.
Any motorbike expert will know what type of helmet is ideal for a particular kind of situation. They know how to make sure that you buy precisely the type of helmet you want.
Here is a list of the various types of helmets that are available:
Full Face
A helmet provides the maximum security to the rider as it covers the entire face and also the neck. One very subtle but essential feature in this type of headgear is the presence of a ‘Chin Bar’, which protects the chin in case of an accident. This type of helmet is used by a diverse set of riders regardless of the kind of bike they ride.
Open Face
Open face, also known as the ¾ helmet, covers all parts of your head except your face. This helmet is for people who want to feel the speed as they ride. In terms of safety, this helmet protects the areas that it covers, but the absence of a chin bar compromises the safety factor to an extent. This variant also weighs slightly less than a full-face helmet for the same reason.
Modular Helmet
Modular helmet, also known as the flip-up helmet is a mix between the full-face helmet and the ¾ helmet. They are called flip-up because the chin-bar and the visor can be lifted. This type weighs slightly more than the traditional full-face helmet, but rider safety is somewhat compromised. Still, it offers more protection than the ½ types. This helmet was created keeping in mind people who’re adventure enthusiasts or cruisers.
Off-Road Helmet
This variety is best suited for off-road travel and is designed accordingly. They come with a larger visor and extended chin-bar for enhanced protection. They’re designed to provide maximum protection at a minimum weight so they may not be as comfortable as other helmets.
This type of helmet offers a choice of material like fibre-glass, carbon-fibre and Kevlar. It's recommended to have visual protection while wearing this helmet as to prevent something from going in the eyes while riding.
Dual-Sport Helmet
Dual-sport helmets are a hybrid between off-road and full-face helmets. They offer the external protection of the off-road variant and the internal comfort of the full-face helmet. This variant can be used for both on and off-road purposes.
Innovation By STUDDS
Backed by an extensive R&D process, we began to customise helmets based on design, size, the material used, to name a few.
Our focus was to make sure that we successfully brought forth the style quotient along with the safety aspect. Appealing to the people’s need to look stylish, we created six different types of helmets. Each of these helmets appeals to different kinds of riders, and as a result, they made safe look stylish, and it worked.
There may be different types of helmets for different kinds of riders out there. However, it is essential to remember to wear one!
Stay safe and slay hard!
