7 Essentials You Must Pack for Motorcycle Adventures in Nature

There is no better time to enjoy nature than in winters. This is the time when nature is at its harshest, thereby creating a challenge of survival even for the most seasoned adventurer among us. If you have a penchant for finding challenges to overcome, going on a motorcycle adventure trip into the wilderness this winter might be just the thing you need!

Before you head out, or even start to plan for a winter vacation in the wilderness, here 7 things that you should plan to have on your trip. A word of caution before we begin, these things are going to cost you some money but they are very good at returning the value of investment over a long period of time, for years at end, which means that these are not short-term investment, especially if you camp in nature frequently. So, plan accordingly and start carrying them over a period of 2 to 3 months until you have all the essentials with you before beginning the trip.

Backup Riding Safety Gears

Riding safety gears, including a premium branded motorcycle helmet, as well as the entire ensemble of riding safety gears which are extremely important and cannot be ignored irrespective of how far you are planning to ride. These are going to save your life in the event of an accident, and protected you against the harsh weather which can make the difference of enjoyable ride, and unending suffering if you make the wrong decision! For winter rides, we strongly recommend going with a full-face branded premium helmet, particularly dual visors so that you can use the tinted visor to see during the bright sunny conditions, and use the clear visor underneath to ride after sunset. Speaking of riding jackets, go with a leather jacket rather than with fabric options because leather is better at keeping the wind out and retaining body heat. The same goes for motorcycle riding gloves. Instead of choosing a pair of fabric gloves, go with leather. And finally, invest in an ankle high riding boot that overlaps the seams of the riding pant for superior weather protection.

Camping Tent & Sleeping Bags

Camping out in the winter is not for the weak of hearts! It is one of the most challenging things to do especially if you've never done it before, so always consult somebody who has camped outside in the winter come outside a few YouTube videos if you do not have a local expert available. You're going to need a good quality camping tent and sleeping bags that are rated for low temperature, ideally the lower the better which means you will stay warm even if the temperature drops significantly during the night. The second thing you need to know about camping in nature is to choose a place that is safe and away from the root of wild animals, or flash floods if it suddenly starts to rain in the night because even a tiny amount of rainfall can become a huge flood especially in mountainous/hilly terrain. In a densely populated country such as India, finding a good and safe place spend a night outside in nature is easier said than done. So, double check your options command you will wait the situation before setting up tent outdoors. We strongly recommend going with the traditional hotel room options if you are not too sure of the safety, or comfort levels at the campsite.

Stove and Fuel

Preparing your own meals while camping in nature enhances the experience of being detached from civilization. If you know how to strike a fire using natural resources, great, but in case you have never done it before, the simple and more convenient option is to carry butane stove, and cans of butane which can easily last 3 meals per can. it is definitely a good idea to check out the operations and try the stove and the fuel at home. The last thing you want to find yourself with a non-operating stove and no hotels or restaurants in sight! While investing in a camping stove and fuel, go with practical options rather than with the show-off souvenir stuff that are available online! Consider the fact that everything takes longer to cook in the winter, and you might want to cook a few dishes if you are not in the habit of being satisfied with simple camp meals.

Packaged ready-to-eat meals

While camping stove is a great option to cook meals, you might not have the energy levels, or the time needed to sit down and start preparing meals. In such conditions, you need an alternative. The best option we recommend is to carry ready-to-eat meals. All you need to do is throw the pack in a pot of hot water and the meal comes out ready to consume! The second option is of course eating at a roadside restaurant.

Spares and a repair-kit

Carry a few additional spares and a complete repair kit in the motorcycle luggage boxes because you never know when you might need them. For that, you will also have to learn a few basic things about repairing common problems with the make and model of your two-wheeler. Consult a local mechanic and find out what he or she can help you out with. If nothing else, you need to know how to repair tires, and replace them with new ones in case of a major puncture. A few basic and practical knowledge of tweaking with the fuel supply and electronics of the motorcycle is also necessary. So, make sure to acclimatize yourself with the vehicle before going on a long-distance road trip all by yourself.

Cash & cards

How do you plan to pay for the expenses during the road trip? We recommend carrying a little bit of cash, but keeping in different places all around The luggage boxes as well as in the backpack. If you put all the money in one place, if you lose it, you lose everything! Also, insist on paying with cards, or with mobile phone applications wherever possible. That way you are able to retain the cash for situations well cards, cash or mobile phone apps are not accepted at all.

Communication Gear & Power Back-up

Whether you are setting up camp in nature come out staying at hotel, you need to stay in contact with people back home and give them updates regularly. For that, you're going to need a mobile phone with enough juice to use the GPS application to find roads, as well as to make calls. For both of these purposes, we strongly recommend that you carry a dual SIM mobile phone with two different SIM cards of different reliable mobile phone operators. Also, when you use the GPS application on mobile phone, draws more battery than average consumption. So, have a power bank available with you so that you can keep on charging the mobile phone while using the application at the same time. There may also be places at in rural areas where you may not have any electric power during the night to recharge the mobile phone. So, having a power backup serves multiple purposes.
