5 Spring Health Problems Every Motorcycle Tourer Must Know

Planning to go on a spring ride? Spring is arguably the best time to go on a motorcycle ride because the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold which makes it perfect for you to go on a long ride and enjoy nature at its best!

But spring is also known to bring a lot of health problems which are quite unique for the season, and you need to know and be prepared for those in order to enjoy the ride and not get stuck with bad health. Keeping that in mind, here are 5 health problems of spring season that every motorcycle traveler should be aware of.

Allergies and runny nose

The first of all of those problems is allergies. With pollen being distributed during the spring season, it is quite easy to inhale a lot of pollen while riding a motorcycle, which can create the problem of allergies and irritation in the nasal canal. You can simply avoid that from happening by applying a little bit of sesame oil in each nostril and by clearing your nose at every motorcycle brake and reapplying the oil once again. Overall immunity is also key in keeping health problems away. So, every morning before starting the right, do a little bit of yoga and freehand exercise and have a healthy breakfast all of which are crucial in keeping the immunity levels high. You can also invest in a good quality premium motorcycle helmet that has air ventilation system which can be dynamically opened and closed as per your requirement. So, in case you find yourself riding in a dusty environment or through thick vegetation where you suspect high quantities of pollen you can easily lower down the ventilation and prevent the outside air from being inhaled.

Fevers

Early mornings during the spring season, and late in the evening the temperature usually drops then what was during the day. Often, many riders make the mistake of not wearing a good quality motorcycle riding jacket while riding early in the morning and during the evening which reduces their core body temperature. During the day, when temperature rises you can reduce the number of clothing on your upper body and still continue to wear the jacket which will not only provide your body the necessary protection against dangers on the road, but also keep the core temperature maintained well so that you do not experience fevers because of sudden and drastic temperature changes. During the hottest hours of the day, do not drink a lot of chilled, or refrigerated water because the weather is not conducive for such cold consumptions yet. It is highly recommended to drink slightly lukewarm water, or water that is at room temperature.

Gastrointestinal distress

One common problem that every motorcycle traveler faces sooner or later in their journey is the problem of gastrointestinal distress. This can happen either because after consumption of something that could have been contaminated with bacteria or germs, or by eating something that your body is allergic to. For example, if you are lactose intelligent, make sure that you are not consuming anything that has milk in it. Try to be within the safety limits of things that you recognize and know for sure that it will not create any untoward reaction once consumed. A good way to prevent that from happening is by getting enough gastrointestinal distress medicines and taking it as soon as you find yourself in a bad situation. While eating meals during the day, choose only those eateries that you know will serve hygienic food, even if it means spending a little more money – because at the end of the day your health is priceless.

Eye Itching and allergies

As the temperature starts to rise, dust and debris settling down on the surface of the road starts to become dry and as soon as wind blows it gets lifted up to your eye levels. Protect your eyes against Dustin debris by wearing a good quality premium motorcycle helmet ideally with dual visors so that you can continue to use the visor even if the lighting conditions become dark, because dual visor motorcycle helmets come with one sun visor, as well as a clear visor which can be used in the dark. If you continue to experience itches and discomfort in the eye, consult a doctor and get yourself a remedial eye drop which will solve the problem.

Back Pains

The subtle temperature differences during the morning and during the day can prompt you to remove all necessary warm clothing while riding the motorcycle. But by the end of the day the overall temperature starts to reduce and the difference in temperature may lead to bone and muscle aches. It might be a good idea to stretch a little before starting the ride and taking strategic breaks in between so that your body gets enough time to recuperate and move about a little which will give you the necessary preparation to continue with the remaining journey.
